Why participate?

Deadline: September 23th 2022

Art Rotterdam is all about creating a strong market place in an inspiring city where visitors experience, discover and acquire new works in the outstanding UNESCO-listed building of the Van Nellefabriek. This all results in a high quality level of visitors with excellent sales figures for the participating galleries.

The upcoming 24th edition will take place in February as always and will offer art enthusiasts from the Netherlands and abroad the opportunity to experience the latest developments in the visual arts live and up close.

Extra focus is given to the food and beverage, spread throughout the fair in different concepts. With an exclusive pop-up restaurant and a festive preview of the fair with local beers, champagne & oysters.

Art Rotterdam composes an exquisite VIP programme for the international art scene, together with our beloved partners in the city such as Kunsthal, Depot Boijmans, Melly and TENT Rotterdam. This year we will organize a wide range of special breakfasts, brunches, drinks and dinners at extraordinary locations; VIP features one wouldn’t want to miss. Art Rotterdam is happy to open doors that would otherwise remain closed for our special guests.

Projections, successfully introduced in a new format last edition, returns at the 2023 edition. The video presentations will once again take place as part of the gallery presentation at the fair.

Main Section

The Main Section is the heart of Art Rotterdam. Centrally located in the Coffee Factory and the Tobacco Factory, international galleries will present a selection of upcoming and more established artists to the public. A few spaces are exclusively reserved for dealers of post-WWII art and vintage photography.

The selection committee of the Main Section, Solo/Duo and New Art Section:

  • Barbara Seiler, Zürich
  • Ellen de Bruijne Projects, Amsterdam
  • Galerie Sofie Van de Velde, Antwerpen
  • Joseph Kouli, collector, Parijs
  • Tobias Arndt, collector, Brussel

Solo/Duo

Approximately 15 stands in de Main Section are made available for solo or duo presentation of artists with a strong underlying curatorial concept. It is possible for a maximum of two galleries to share a Solo/Duo booth. Two years ago, the New Art Section was revamped with great success.

New Art Section

This section is focusing on works by emerging artists rather than on the age of the galleries. The New Art Section will exlusively exhibit works of emerging artists, born either in the eighties or the nineties. Please find the members of the selection committee listed above under the Main Section.

Projections

Since the last edition, Projections has a new format that perfectly matches the wishes of the galleries. The video works will be shown as part of the gallery presentation in the booth. This expands the gallery’s stand with a video space of 3 meters wide and 3 meters deep.

The selection committee:

  • Bob and Renée Drake
  • Bart Rutten, director Centraal Museum Utrecht
  • Jean Conrad Lemaitre, collector, Paris

The selection committee intends to acquire one work from the works presented at Projections for their collection. The intended purchase of the Centraal Museum Utrecht is supported by Classicus Private Assurance.
